Nesting One Table in Another

Tips (continued)

  • Don’t nest a table in a table in a table. Simplify your design instead.
  • When studying other people’s nested tables, download the source code (see page 310) and then change the background color (see page 158) of the individual tables to make it easier to tell which table belongs to which part of the layout.
  • Don’t forget to close each table with its own closing </TABLE> tag. Otherwise, your table will display correctly in Explorer but Netscape won’t show a thing.
  • You may need to slightly adjust the positioning of particular elements. For more information, consult Using Pixel Shims on page 109.
